Reception
Welcome to Reception, part of our Early Years Foundation Stage
At Ladygrove Park, in our Early Years setting, we aim to support the children by;
- Providing an enabling environment, so that they will develop and practise their skills, develop their own interests, creativity and independence;
- Building positive relationships with peers and adults, so that they will feel safe, develop their confidence and resilience to be able to collaborate with others;
- Providing rich experiences to encourage children's curiosity, so that children deepen their understanding of our culturally, socially, technologically and ecologically diverse world;
- Participating in quality interactions within a language rich environment, so that the children will grow their vocabulary and develop early language skills and communicate effectively;
- Sharing aspirational expectations, so that children are challenged to move their thinking and learning on to their next steps and are able to build on their prior knowledge and make links to new learning.
"We are a team and we work hard together. We are all equal to each other."
Tim Peake (first British astronaut to visit the International Space Station)
In Term 6, our theme will be The Sea and the children will be learning about the seaside environment and the animals that live there. We will be looking at non-fiction books and aiming to write our own book about the sea animals we like. We are planning a “Beach Experience” when the children can come into school in beachwear (e.g. shorts and t-shirt). They will get wet and sandy! The children last year had an amazing afternoon. Please bring in an extra bag of spare clothes on this day. We are looking at one of the weeks in June, Tuesday or Wednesday tbc so Class 1 can join in the fun! This will only go ahead in good weather and we will aim to give you at least 2 days notice, as we keep an eye on the weather forecast. So please look out for this and share with other parents.
Our Big Idea this term is Truth and we will be talking about what the truth is and debating the question: Should we always tell the truth? One of the books we will use to discuss this is “This Is Not My Hat” by John Klassen.
Our Role Models are charities and people or children, who take action for the planet. We will be looking at how important it is to look after our World.

We now have free access to TimesTableRockStar' partner, 'Numbots'. Numbots has an emphasis is on mathematical concepts and is underpinned by a mastery approach to teaching. Children use their same log-in details as for TTRS.
